ELDERLY CARE: SWEDEN EXAMPLE

ELDERLY CARE: SWEDEN EXAMPLE

One of the main aims of the Swedish system is to help the elderly to live a normal and autonomous life and stay at home for as long as possible. A growing number of elderly people in Sweden want to live in "homes for the elderly", ordinary homes suitable for people of 55 years and older. In these homes, accessibility is a priority. Where Swedish municipalities plan housing and residential areas, they must ensure that they meet the needs of the elderly and the disabled.

This is why the French team has been there to discover Swedish professional practices. After a presentation on the functioning of the health care system, the delegation was guided to visit around the receptions’ structures, both private and public. These visits highlighted the variety of care arrangements available depending on the degree of autonomy of the patients. To complement this approach, the group visited the "robot valley" to learn about the new support opportunities developed by medical robotics.
