SCHOOL GROUPS IN JAPAN
The seminar was attended by nineteen principals of various educational institutions in Russia and Kazakhstan. Among them was the director of Lipetsk boarding school for the blind and visually impaired children, Igor Batishchev. Also attending, was the head of the department of education of city of Kostanay in the Kazakhstan Republic, Vasiliy Cymbalyuk.
The official portion of the seminar began with a visit to the Department of Education of Tokyo; its experts introduced the delegates to the structure of levels of education employed in Japan and integration of pre-school and school education in a singular institution. Tokyo experts also helped the delegates weigh the pros and cons of such educational model.
In order to see for themselves how the process of education is organized in this system, the participants visited several private and public educational institutions that are not simply a school, but instead combine kindergarten, pre-school, primary, middle and high schools, and offer college education and extra curriculum courses. One such educational institution visited, was the multifunctional private school «The Gakuchuin School Corporation». Delegates were joined by the school’s teachers and educational coordinators to discuss structure, principles of organization and operation of the school as well as teaching methodology employed. In the future, these techniques could be applied in educational institutions of Russia and Kazakhstan.
