Nov.29 – Dec.3, Vocational Training in Sweden seminar was held in Gothenburg, Sweden, and attended by Russian principals.

Within this seminar, the principals were offered an opportunity to compare Russian and Swedish vocational education systems and visit EUROSKILLS competition in vocational skills.

During competition days, the seminar participants had a unique opportunity to learn more about current vocational training tendencies, to see their practical application and support WorldSkills Russia team. The competition management represented by Swedish event officials shared with the attendees information on all stages of event preparation and implementation, technical requirements, management, contestant credential requirements, tasks, evaluation procedures and other aspects of EuroSkills hosting.

Seminar agenda allowed not only visiting the competition but also meeting with EUROSKILLS Sweden management team as well as visiting vocational schools taking part in the event.

For practical insight into vocational training in various career fields in Sweden the seminar participants visited several occupational schools: IT-Gymnasiet private vocational collage (part of the widest network of private Swedish learning institutions) and Plushögskolan (established in 1996 this school in collaboration with companies and organizations offers various types of training in such spheres as technologies, engineering, marketing, sales and finance). Another visited facility: Hermods occupational re-training courses as part of national Swedish standards for further vocational education.

Upon seminar completion, the attendees emphasized its practical relevance and expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to get to know the modern Swedish vocation training. Seminar participants included representatives of Irkutsk Department of Education as well as principals of secondary vocational colleges of Moscow region.
