VOCATIONAL EDUCATION IN THE US

From December 8th to 12th of 2013 in New York, a seminar was conducted on the subject of "US education system. New York".

39 leaders of State Department of education and educational institutions participated in this study tour. They represented several regions of the Russian Federation.
Presence of Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Chelyabinsk region, Mrs. Kazakova and the Deputy Minister of Education of Moscow Region, Mrs. Suzdaltseva attested to senior level of this delegation.

The organizers provided participants with an opportunity to get acquainted with the US educational system and institutions of vocational training using New York as an example. Leaders of New York Board of Education conducted a presentation on this subject.
While visiting the Graduate School of the Fashion Industry and the Culinary Institute, participants were able to familiarize themselves with the most advanced techniques and approaches of their American colleagues for fostering creativity in students.
Delegates heard many interesting and practical things during their visits to the New York Auto mechanics school and the Thomas Edison College. These schools utilize the most modern equipment in their workshops and constantly develop new techniques and unconventional approaches to educational process. This allows them to prepare highly trained professionals for modern industries and scientific research laboratories.

The participants were particularly interested to visit the famous Sony Wonder laboratory, during this visit they met the staff of this high-tech center and were able to discuss with them the pedagogical approaches of teaching children the exact sciences.
