BIM: THE BRITISH EXPERIENCE
3D modelling, or Building Information Modelling (BIM), is rapidly becoming the standard for project management across the Atlantic, because since 2016 regulations require that public building programs be developed and delivered using this form of collaboration.
That’s why, during the month of July, ten French professionals from the construction sector travelled to London to benefit from the expertise and witness the example of their British counterparts.
For three days, the group met and exchanged information with different kinds of BIM users (architects, engineers, designers, project managers) at various project phases, from a project’s birth to its final delivery.
The delegation also got the chance to learn about the UK BIM Task Group, a governmental organization dedicated specifically to promoting, training, and supporting all the people involved in the use of BIM.
Finally, the participants could benefit from a concrete example by visiting the Cambridge University Capella, a building dedicated to biomedical research that was realized entirely through 3D design tools.
