AGRICULTURE IN FRANCE

Key issues of the agrarian sector, the specifics of farm operations, the role of the government in regulation of the sector as well as current issues and innovations, were discussed during the seminar "Agriculture of France", which was held from February 24th to 28th 2012 in Paris, France.

Participants of this study tour had an opportunity to discuss the most important aspects of the strategy of national agricultural development in France. Most importantly, the main theme of discussion was the role of the state in the development and support of the agricultural enterprise. Its effectiveness, practice and problems were discussed as well.

During the seminar, the participants visited an agricultural cooperative VALFRANCE, which is a significant player in the regional economic market, and also is an active exporter. During the meeting, the participants were informed as to what are the most significant problems and innovations in crop management, as well as specifics of interaction of producers with manufacturers of food and animal feed.

Of particular interest was the discussion of the D'Arcy farms – a business ran by Kuaak brothers, with 260 hectares of land and 500 head of cattle. On this farm, projects involving obtaining renewable energy by using solar panels and methane are being put in practice.

On the final day of his educational tour, the guests visited trade exhibition “SIMA”: one of the world's largest exhibitions in the field of agribusiness. The exhibition was attended by about 1400 leading companies and enterprises.
Notable is the fact, that the seminar was attended by a group of 12 leading specialists in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan, among them, managers of private and government agricultural companies.
